Vicksburg Holding Release Paths
This is short-term municipal holding inside Vicksburg Police headquarters, not the Warren County Jail and not an MDOC prison. Official city materials say booking staff create and review booking reports, take fingerprints and photographs, log property, calculate release dates, arrange pretrial interviews, answer status questions, and release prisoners when bail is posted. These duties show which records may exist. They do not establish a public roster.
A bail release returns the person to the community while prosecution may remain active. A court appearance can result in another direction. Transfer to Warren County Jail ends VPD custody but does not end confinement. Ask for the actual event, timestamp, authority, and destination. If the destination was Warren County Jail, continue with the sheriff using the same name, arrest number, and date. Never describe a transfer as a community release.
Confirm a Vicksburg Police Release
First review the official VPD arrest-report archive for an arrest number, date, charge, officer, and location. The report is a lead only. It cannot show whether the person stayed in the holding area, posted bail, appeared in court, or went to the county jail.
- Copy the exact arrest number and spelling.
- Request the booking report and actual release or transfer entry.
- Ask for the exit time, bond or other authority, and destination.
- Match the result to Municipal Court or the other court handling the charge.
- Contact the receiving jail if the event was a transfer.
Use the Warren County release search when the episode crosses agencies. A missing name in one system is never enough. Brief holding, spelling differences, delayed entry, and transfer can all explain nonappearance.
Vicksburg Booking Records Contact
The official VPD records page allows in-person requests and provides police contact details. The city records page adds a City Clerk route. Identify the exact episode and ask which office will receive the written request. VPD states that a nominal processing charge of at least $10 may apply. That is a city record fee and should not be assigned to a sheriff request.

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
City Clerk contact is 601-634-4553, fax 601-631-3778, and dnickson@vicksburg.org at City Hall, Suite 212. Request the booking report, photograph if maintained and disclosable, property or possession log, computed release date, actual exit timestamp, bond entry, and transfer destination. A calculated date is not the same as an actual exit record.
Official Vicksburg Records Route
The official VPD records page explains access and contact options.

This source supports the records route and VPD fee statement. It is not a live custody screen. Use a produced booking or release entry to state what happened to a named booking.
Vicksburg Release Court Match
A city ordinance or city misdemeanor generally points to Vicksburg Municipal Court. A county misdemeanor or felony preliminary matter can point to Warren Justice Court. County Court holds its own cases and municipal appeals, while later felony prosecution belongs in Circuit Court. Ask the clerk for the docket and the specific bond, dismissal, sentencing, or other order connected to the arrest number.
The court document shows legal authority. VPD's entry shows physical exit. Bond does not mean a charge was dismissed. Likewise, dismissal of one charge does not prove that no other hold existed. Keep each source and date label visible. The Release Date Lookup guide explains how to separate a computed date, court order, and actual release time.
Vicksburg Property After Release
The official Booking Officer description says prisoner property is placed on a possession log, sealed with a copy, and maintained during booking. That record creates a useful way to resolve missing-property questions. Reference the arrest number and possession log when contacting VPD. Ask when and where property tied to that booking may be claimed, and whether a transfer caused it to accompany the person or remain with the city.
No published after-release pickup directions were verified. Do not assume the public records counter is the property-release point. County-jail property follows a separate sheriff process after transfer. A VPD possession log should not be treated as evidence of release by itself, but it can help distinguish belongings from one short booking episode and prevent records from different arrests being merged.
Vicksburg Arrest Reports Differ
Weekly arrest PDFs are useful because they preserve incident identifiers. They may list name, charge, arrest date and time, officer, and location. Yet an arrest report records the start of an episode, not its end. It lacks the actual custody-exit time, release reason, receiving agency, and continuing-custody result needed for a release claim.
For recent events, the 24-Hour Releases and 72-Hour Releases pages explain why these PDFs cannot be rebuilt into release lists. Save the report as a request key. Then obtain the VPD booking entry and the appropriate court order. If SAVIN/VINELink contains the participating agency record, use VINE Inmate Check for notification and confirm the event with VPD.
Vicksburg Holding Facility Facts
An official 2015 city plan described the holding space as 285 square feet inside headquarters with Municipal Court. That size and description are historical, not a promise about today's layout or capacity. The verified operating contact is VPD at 820 Veto Street. Ask the department directly before relying on an old physical detail.
The holding unit is not a long-term sentenced facility. MDOC's inmate search will not document an ordinary VPD bail release. The MDOC parolee search matters only when a separate state supervision record exists. Similarly, Warren Probation & Parole Office is not the custodian of a normal city booking. Correct classification keeps the search focused and avoids turning a short police hold into a false state-prison history.
If another agency assumed custody, preserve both records. VPD should document its exit and destination, while the receiving jail should document intake and its own later outcome. A federal or immigration detainer requires the corresponding federal system. A current court case can continue after bail release, so an open docket does not erase the fact of a prior physical exit. Conversely, a bond order alone does not show that release occurred.
Ask for record freshness. Note when the arrest PDF was accessed, when VPD answered, and when the court file was checked. A later correction should be tied to the issuing office. This source-by-source log is especially useful when similar names, repeat bookings, or several custody changes occur close together.
Vicksburg Public Record Procedure
A narrow city request should identify the weekly arrest report, arrest number, full name, arrest date, and a short date range. Ask separately for the booking report, photograph if maintained and releasable, possession log or property receipt, computed release date, actual release or transfer timestamp, bond entry, and destination. The distinction between computed and actual matters. Booking staff may calculate a date, but another hold, court action, or transfer can change what physically occurs.
Mississippi's Public Records Act permits reasonable written procedures and actual search, review, duplication, and mailing costs. The VPD page specifically says a nominal processing fee of at least $10 may apply and that copies may be given at once or mailed as soon as possible. Those statements belong only to the VPD route. The City Clerk overlay says VPD retains police records while directing requesters to contact the clerk, so ask which counter accepts the exact booking request.
Investigative reports may be exempt even when basic incident material is public. Separate the basic booking, property, and release fields from any request for investigative content. If part is withheld, ask for segregable nonexempt portions and the statutory basis. A narrow request is easier to route and less likely to mix two arrests belonging to people with similar names.
Vicksburg Court and Bond Sequence
Vicksburg's warrants explanation says an arrest may lead to confinement until a magistrate sets bond and the amount is paid. The Booking Officer description says staff release prisoners when bail is posted. Together those sources explain why “bonded out” can be a valid physical release while the prosecution remains unresolved. Neither general page proves that a named person actually posted bond.
Request the VPD exit timestamp and bond entry, then obtain the court's bond docket or order. If the record instead says recognizance, preserve that term rather than calling it a cash or surety bond. A later failure to appear, warrant, bond revocation, or new arrest is a new event. It does not erase the earlier release, and the earlier release does not resolve the later case.
Preserve the Vicksburg Source
Keep the exact agency wording and access date with each result. That prevents an arrest entry from being retold as a county release record. If VPD later corrects an entry, preserve both the correction and the office that issued it. Record whether the answer came from police records, the City Clerk, Municipal Court, or a receiving jail because each office proves a different part of the episode.
Official Vicksburg Record Routes
Use the VPD arrest archive to identify the episode, then follow the VPD records instructions. The city's local-government records page explains the City Clerk route. For a city misdemeanor, the Municipal Court page supplies the court contact. Each route answers a different part of the booking.
