Find Warren County Jail Releases

To find someone released from Warren County Jail, start with the record for the exact booking episode rather than a live roster. Warren County does not publish a verified online list of people released from this jail. A person who is gone may have returned to the community, entered another jail, or moved into state, federal, or immigration custody. The Warren County release search therefore depends on the sheriff's jail docket, the booking and exit record, and the court order tied to that event.

Official Warren Jail Routes

Use the Sheriff contact page for the current office route and the Sheriff duties page for the county-jailer and jail-docket basis. The Mississippi Ethics Commission records guide provides the state public-access framework. These sources support contact and request procedure, while the produced booking record must prove a named release.

Warren Jail Public Record Rules

The Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code §25-61-1 and following, supplies the general access framework. Section 25-61-5 calls public records public property subject to exemptions and permits agencies to use reasonable written procedures. An agency procedure cannot set production or denial later than seven working days. If production cannot occur by then, the agency must give a specific written explanation. Without an agreed extension or a narrow procurement exception, production is due no later than fourteen working days.

A denial should be in writing and identify the exemption. Investigative material, protected victim information, juvenile files, sealed or expunged material, medical information, and security details may be restricted. A mixed record can still contain releasable fields. Ask the sheriff to redact exempt material and produce the remaining jail-docket and exit information. Section 25-61-7 allows actual search, review, duplication, and mailing costs, including work by the lowest-level competent employee. Ask for an estimate before copies are made because no Warren sheriff release-record fee was verified.

The sheriff duties page gives the request a local focus: the sheriff is county jailer and keeps a jail docket noting the warrant or mittimus for each person placed in jail. A mittimus is a court order directing custody. Request that named docket, plus the booking and exit screen, instead of asking broadly for “all inmate records.” A narrow booking number and date range reduce identity error and help the custodian find the physical release or transfer event.

Warren Jail Release Notifications

Mississippi SAVIN uses VINE/VINELink for participating county facilities and MDOC state offenders. It can send notices about release, transfer or temporary movement, return to custody, escape, and supervision absconding. The live service should be checked for Warren coverage before promising that a particular booking appears. A notice comes from an agency electronic update and can lag, repeat, or use event wording that needs explanation.

Save the alert time, source agency, person identifier, and exact event description. Then call MS SAVIN or the feeding agency. Ask whether “release” means community release or movement to another custodian. The Registration Link may continue notification across a county-to-MDOC transition. A missed notice proves nothing because agency participation, contact errors, feed delay, outage, and notification settings can intervene.

Warren Jail Release Outcomes

Leaving a Warren County Jail bed does not always mean freedom from all custody. Bond or recognizance may return the person to the community while the case stays open. A dismissal, time-served order, sentence completion, or another court direction may also support community release. Each outcome needs an actual exit entry. The court file explains the legal authority, while the sheriff record should show when the person physically left and under what release code.

A transfer is different. The person may go to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, another county jail, the United States Marshals Service, or immigration custody. Ask staff to name the receiving agency and transfer date. Then move to that agency's system. An MDOC transfer may become visible in the state inmate search after intake, but the sheriff's record remains the source for the Warren County exit. Do not treat a roster disappearance or an MDOC match as proof of community release.

Confirm a Warren Jail Release

Begin with the person's full name, date of birth, booking or arrest number, arrest date, and known aliases. Call the Warren County Sheriff's Office to ask whether the booking ended in community release or transfer. An oral answer can resolve an immediate question, but a written request creates a durable record. Request the jail-docket page, booking record, and release or transfer entry for the narrow date range.

  1. Identify one booking episode, not just a name.
  2. Ask for the actual exit date and time, release authority, release type, and destination.
  3. Match any bond, dismissal, sentencing, or transfer entry to the correct court case.
  4. If another custodian received the person, confirm intake with that agency.
  5. Use VINE Inmate Check for a participating source, then verify any alert with the source agency.

The Warren County released-inmate search guide explains the full decision path. No absence by itself proves release. Name spelling, aliases, record delay, transfer, restricted files, and an old booking can all produce a false negative.

Warren Jail Records Contact

The official sheriff page is the current contact route. The research found no sheriff-specific online request form, public email address, fee schedule, or promised turnaround for release records. Call first to confirm the submission method and current operational location. Keep any city police fee separate because VPD's published charge does not establish a sheriff fee.

Warren County Sheriff's Office
1000 Grove Street
Vicksburg, MS 39183-2539
601-636-1761
Administrative office: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

A focused request should seek the jail-docket entry, booking record, actual custody-exit date and time, release authority, whether the event was community release or transfer, and the receiving agency if transferred. Ask for segregable nonexempt portions if part of a record is withheld. The Mississippi Public Records Act permits reasonable procedures and actual costs, but no amount should be predicted until this office gives an estimate.

Warren Release Court Records

A sheriff exit entry and a court order answer different questions. A bond order can authorize release but does not prove that bond conditions were met or record the exact door time. A dismissal can end a charge yet leave another hold in place. A time-served sentence supports release only after other warrants, detainers, or concurrent cases are checked. Match the booking number and case number before combining the two records.

Route a Vicksburg city misdemeanor to Municipal Court. Justice Court handles county misdemeanors and felony preliminary matters. County Court maintains its own docket and municipal appeals, while later felony prosecution belongs in Circuit Court. Warren Circuit and County electronic records began in MEC on November 15, 2021, so older files may require a clerk search. The Release Date Lookup page explains why a court date, tentative date, and actual custody exit must retain distinct labels.

Which Warren Jail Address Is Current?

The official 2015 Vicksburg comprehensive plan dated the western portion of the older jail to 1906 and an addition to 1977. It also described the facility as inadequate. Later government procurement and meeting materials concern a Highway 80 replacement project. Those are date-qualified historical and project facts. They do not prove that a replacement is open, identify today's release door, or replace the sheriff's current public contact.

Because the site history creates real address risk, call 601-636-1761 before arranging transportation or publishing pickup directions. Ask which facility is operating, where an authorized release exits, whether property is returned at that point, and what after-hours process applies. No official release hours, weekend procedure, property-return instructions, or exit location were verified in the reviewed sources. The Grove Street address is the published sheriff contact, not a promise that every pickup occurs there.

Warren Jail Transfer Checks

If the entry says MDOC, use the state inmate search by MDOC number when possible. Read its location and exact “Tentative Release Date” label as state information, not proof that release occurred. A future estimate can change. A person later found in the parolee search may be outside prison under supervision, but that result does not establish full discharge. For a final state history, request the discharge certificate or release record through MDOC's written public-record channel.

A federal path needs separate tools. BOP covers federal prison, while USMS may hold federal pretrial prisoners without a comparable public release locator. ICE uses its own detainee locator. None of those tools proves the Warren exit unless the sheriff transfer entry connects the episodes. Save agency numbers and exact event wording. This prevents a local transfer date, state entry date, federal release date, and later supervision date from being merged into one misleading event.

Request Warren Release Fields

Ask for fields that answer who, which booking, when, why, and where. Useful items include the subject's identifiers, booking number, admission date and time, charges, custody movements, actual exit timestamp, release authority, release type, bond details, linked case number, and destination agency. A photograph or property receipt may live in a separate part of the booking packet. Not every field is guaranteed to exist or be public.

Use precise terms. Bond release means custody ended after bond or recognizance conditions, although prosecution can remain active. Time served refers to credited confinement supporting a judicial disposition. Transfer means a new custodian received the person. A detainer is another agency's basis for continued custody or transfer. If staff say only that the person is “not here,” ask which of those events occurred. For recent context, compare the 24-Hour Releases and 72-Hour Releases guides, both of which explain the absence of an official rolling feed.
